From year to year, batteries continue to push conventional batteries out of the market. This is due to the fact that over a long distance they are more profitable than conventional batteries.

Types and characteristics of AAA batteries
Rechargeable batteries vary in size and shape. One of the most popular is the little fingers, which are indicated by the English letters AAA. Their length is 44 mm and their diameter is 10 mm. They are a little smaller AA rechargeable batteries with the designation AA, these have a length of 50 mm, a diameter of 14 mm. Weight is about 12 g.
According to the chemical composition of AAA batteries, there are: lithium-ion, nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride.
AAA Li-ion Battery (Li-ion)
The voltage of the Li-Ion pinky battery is 3.7v. Capacity depending on the manufacturer will be from 350 to 1100 mAh. Every year more and more powerful and powerful power sources appear. The battery consists of two electrodes. On the one hand, a negative cathode in the form of a flat platform, on the other hand, a positively charged anode in the form of a pimple. Between them is an electrolyte sealed in a sealed form.
Positive lithium ions are a source of current. They interact with other chemical elements, providing a chemical reaction process that powers a device.
To prevent arbitrary ignition of the lithium battery when charging it, a battery charge controller is mounted in the housing.
Compared to other power sources, ion batteries have the best characteristics:
- a low level of self-discharge allows them to be used for a longer time;
- the increased capacity provides long work;
- do not require additional maintenance.
Lithium-ion batteries cannot be completely discharged; they should have at least a minimum charge. Otherwise, this will lead to a short period of use.
Also, do not buy a li-ion battery for future use, since in 2 years it loses 4% of its capacity.
AAA Nickel Cadmium Batteries
NiCd batteries appeared in the late 20th century. The inventor of these batteries is Waldmar Jungner, who used nickel as a positive charge and cadmium as a negative one. Mass production of nickel batteries began in the 50s. AAA was launched much later. The capacity of the tiny batteries is from 400 to 1100 mAh, and the nominal voltage is 1.2 volts.
The main difference between nickel batteries is that they do not heat up so quickly. This prevents premature failure.
Nickel-cadmium batteries are less prone to overheating. The slower heating process is due to the fact that the chemical reactions inside them are endometric. The case of these batteries is made of metal, which provides strength and tightness. They are even in the worst conditions able to maintain their performance.
Among these batteries, there are those that can last 20-25 years. Despite the fact that modern lithium batteries displace nickel batteries everywhere, their production and use continues, albeit in smaller volumes.
AAA NiMH Battery
AAA nickel metal hydride pinky batteries are labeled NiMh. By design, they are similar to NiCd. Rated voltage 1.2 V.
For a month, the battery loses capacity by 20-30%, and then by 3-7% per month. Average life from 3 to 5 years.
The difference between NiMh and NiCd is an increase in specific energy parameters. Also the advantages of this type of battery include:
- cleaner production;
- they have no “memory effect";
- more simplified disposal in case of failure.
Where are the AAA pinky batteries
AAA batteries are used in digital cameras, camcorders, voice recorders, radios, cordless phones, MP3 players, electric shavers, flashlights, remotes, children's toys and many more.
How to choose a charger
Manufacturers of rechargeable AAA batteries recommend using the chargers that they developed as charging. This makes some sense, since all manufacturers have their own technology, but this does not hurt to charge the AAA battery with the cheapest Chinese charging.
It is worth noting that branded memory devices are equipped with various degrees of protection and charge controls with automatic auto-off, and the Chinese counterparts lack such technical solutions, so they are still not recommended.
Almost all memory devices are protected against overturning, i.e. if the batteries are inserted incorrectly, this will not lead to damage.
How to charge AAA rechargeable batteries
AAA batteries are charged using a dedicated mains charger. Simply insert the power sources into the slots and turn on the memory in the network. The tiny batteries can be considered charged after the green light on the device lights up.
If the batteries start to get very hot during charging, it is better to prevent the process. An increased voltage may be applied, and this may result in a fire or explosion.
Popular manufacturers and their features
The most popular AAA battery manufacturers are:
- Panasonic Eneloop Lite (Japanese manufacturer): the cost of 210-220 rubles. Recharge up to 3000. Capacity 550 mAh;
- Panasonic Eneloop Pro capacity 950 mAh, price 300-320 rubles. Reload 500.
- Robiton AAA micro (Russian manufacturer): price 90-100 rubles. Capacity 900 mAh.
- Varta (German manufacturer): capacity 1000 mAh, recharge 1500, price 170-180 rubles.
- GP (Hong Kong manufacturer): capacity from 650 to 1000 mAh, price 85-150 rubles, recharge: 1000.
- Duracell (American manufacturer): price 200 rub., capacity 800 mAh, recharge 1000.
- Camelion capacity 800 mAh, price 180-200 rubles., recharge 1000.
What to look for when choosing
When buying a battery, you should pay attention to:
- The higher the capacity, the longer the device will function.
- If the device will be used rarely, then it is worth paying attention to the level of self-discharge.
- With a minimum number of recharge cycles (500), the battery will last a year and a half.
There is a wide variety of AAA batteries. When buying batteries, you should pay attention to the main characteristics and take into account the conditions for their use.
