Applications for Delta HR 12 12 batteries
Delta batteries are widely used to ensure the smooth operation of the following equipment:
- computer engineering;
- sources of backup power supply;

The HR range has products that produce 6 or 12 volts with a capacity of 4.5 to 100 Ah. One of the most common power sources for these devices, including UPS, is the Delta HR 12-12.
Applied technologies and their features
Maintenance-free Delta HR power supplies are lead acid batteries. They have the following features:
- the sealed enclosure Delta HR 12-12 is made of shockproof, moisture and acid resistant, non-toxic and non-combustible ABS plastic;
- the batteries are equipped with a VRLA gas recombination system using up to 99 percent of the gases emitted by the batteries;
- battery cases are equipped with valves made of rubber;
- the electrolyte (sulfuric acid) is absorbed in a fiberglass separator using AGM technology, which significantly improves the battery's resistance to low discharge, increases the safety of their operation, makes them maintenance-free and does not require topping up water;
- the anode (plus) plate is made of lead dioxide, and the cathode (minus) plate is made of lead. Battery plates are additionally doped with calcium to increase their strength and reduce the magnitude of the self-discharge current.

How to use the Delta HR 12-12 battery
Before you start using the battery, you need to check it for damage, proper connection and tightness at the place of use.
The most important thing when using lead-acid batteries is to prevent their discharge below critical values. Although the AGM technology improves the battery's resistance to strong discharges, it is better not to allow the voltage drop on the Delta HR 12-12 below 10.5 v.
Typically, automation in devices where such batteries are installed supports the required charge level. A dangerous situation can arise if users completely de-energize the room for a long time in which the equipment with connected batteries is located.Power supplies for turned off computers constantly generate a standby voltage of 5 volts. Although the current consumption is not large at the same time, in a few days / weeks it can significantly reduce the charge of the UPS to which such a power supply is connected.
Proceeding from this, it is necessary to ensure the complete disconnection of ATX power supplies of the standard computers from UPSs when the power to the room or the power line of the uninterruptible power supply is off.
If the batteries are not used for a long time, then their voltage still drops due to self-discharge. Therefore, for non-working batteries it is recommended to periodically (at least once every 6 months) check the voltage and, if necessary, recharge.
When operating the battery, it is advisable to prevent a long-term excess of the operating temperature above 45 degrees, as well as moisture from entering the case, which may cause a short circuit.
How to charge a Delta HR 12-12 battery
It is recommended to charge the battery in compliance with the following parameters:
- it is recommended to charge with a constant voltage with a current limitation of up to 30% of the battery capacity (not more than 3.6 amperes for this battery for 12 Ah);
- during cyclic use: 2.3-2.35 volts per cell (13.8-14.1 volts per battery) with thermal compensation of 30 mV / ° C;
- with buffer use: recharging 2.23-2.27 volts per cell (13.38-13.62 volts per battery) with thermal compensation of 19.8 mV / ° C;
- Recommended temperature - about 25 degrees; Permissible temperatures: from -10 to +60 degrees;
- maximum charge current - up to 3.6 amperes;
Thermal compensation of voltage during a charge can be omitted at temperatures from +15 to +25 degrees.
In the case of long-term undercharging or deep discharge, it is necessary to carry out equalizing battery charge with voltage not exceeding 14.1 volts up to 48 hours and current not exceeding 3.6 amperes. The equalization charge stops after the charging current has not changed for 2 hours.
If the battery temperature rises above 50 degrees, charging must be stopped before the battery cools.
With proper operation and observing the charging mode, they are able to work without complaints, not only the entire term of operation, but also much longer.
