Device Overview
The charger is available in a plastic case. For ventilation of electronic elements, the housing has shutters. Additional protection against overheating is provided by the fan. At the back is a hollow notch designed to store output wires and a power cord.

How to charge the battery using Pennant 57
The instructions indicate two modes of use. Each of them has its own characteristics. We will analyze them in more detail.
When you turn on automatic mode, the electronics adjusts all the parameters without your participation. This mode is ideal for maintenance-free batteries of a closed type. The non-automatic mode can be used to charge any battery that has a maximum voltage of no more than 18 V.
! After completion of work, “crocodiles” must be wiped to remove electrolyte residues. You need to do this even when working with maintenance-free batteries. The clamps are also treated with any grease for electrical contacts.!
In automatic mode
First of all, it is necessary to check what voltage and current are set in the device. If data is not set before starting work, it is necessary to set the maximum voltage for a specific type of battery. These data can be found in the technical documentation for the battery.
This parameter may vary even within the same type of battery, depending on the manufacturer. For example, the Long Life gel battery has a maximum charging voltage of 14.1 V, and from Deep Cycle it has 14.4 V. Moreover, both of them are of the VRLA type.
Before setting the voltage and current, connect the device to the network. “Crocodiles” should not be connected to the battery. Turn the knobs to set the necessary parameters. After that, you can connect the battery, or just turn off the device, the settings will be saved.
The charging process is automatic in steps.
- Turn on the device. To do this, just connect it to the power.
- We check the exposed parameters.
- Connect the "crocodile" red to the positive terminal of the battery.
- We connect the black "crocodile" to the negative terminal.
- After charging is completed, disconnect the device from the network and remove the terminals.
The charging process takes place automatically. As soon as the voltage is reached, the current decreases and so on until the battery is fully charged.
A decrease in current indicates a charge level of 70-80%. You can check this by looking at the display, where this indicator will be displayed.
If you mix up the terminals nothing bad will happen, just an error warning will appear on the display!
When working in automatic mode, it can be used as a pre-launch device.
In non-automatic mode
This name hides the mode when the voltage supplied to the battery at the end of the process is less than the permissible voltage of the charger. The setting is as follows - when the device is turned on, the voltage is set higher than the permissible value for your battery, but the current strength is set at 0.1 of the capacity.
Connecting the device is as follows.
- We connect the wire with the red tip to the positive terminal.
- A wire with a black "crocodile" is connected to the negative terminal.
- The charger is connected to the network.
- We control the charge level by voltage, time, electrolyte density, current strength.
- Upon reaching the required parameters, the device is turned off.
Operating time, regardless of the mode, is unlimited.
